Hi All,

I've got a '72 Dodge D100 Custom, and the original plastic steering wheel is cracked in numerous places. I am about to take it through our local DMV to get a Roadworthy Certificate, if I don't replace the steering wheel it will never pass.

Just wondering what other Mopar OEM plastic steering wheels are compatible (year range)? I would like to put a Tuff Wheel or a two spoke Steering wheel (like on E-Bodys etc) on it, but I think I need a Boss Kit?

Due to our Road Rules if I don't have an OEM Steering Wheel it won't pass (can't have after market Steering Wheels).

Any help much appreciated.

I think most wheels will work, I know I have used a Omni/Horizon wheel on my '88, most recently, and tried it on my '85and it fit.

The differences are more, tilt or non tilt column, the tilt columns were built I believe by Saginaw (GM) and use a different spline, same I think as most GM.

So, a wheel from a non tilt column should work. When you get up into the later, fat column years, not so sure.

I sort of use the size of the column as my guide.

Sometimes I use the listings for after market wheel adapters as a guide.

Clear as mud now, right?

Cheers thanks for the head's up.

You could take the wheel off, and repair and repaint. A little epoxy and time should get you there. Lots of videos on the old interweb.

Cheers! Thanks for the good advice, I think I am going to do as you suggested, I watched some Youtube vids and it doesn't look too difficult. I think it may be simpler for the time being

Eventually I will change the Steering Wheel, but after I fix it I won't be in such a rush..

You could buy a "tuff wheel" and can and be good to go.

Dinuba, California, Home of the PALOMINO ranch and 440 truck farm, where dodge trucks have a home. Have Four 1979 dodge PALOMINO trucks now.

Thanks - I just checked them out online. Because the below comes with the adapter, it should bolt on?

I think I would much prefer a Tuff Wheel over a plastic one..

I think people have already given you the skinny on this. I'm shocked to see they would fail a vehicle for this. Broken metal spine I could understand. There's probably tens of millions of cars in the US with cracked steering wheels.

I want my fair share
