Local racer here in Saskatchewan had his Cutlass stolen from his Bodyshop. They found the empty trailer a ways out of Saskatoon. A couple days later they found the remains of the car. Sad.

A $35,000 engine in a car with drum brakes... The car is cut up into pieces- almost like a body shop would do

Some guys like drum brakes for how the springs pull the shoes away for lower rolling resistance, and on a race only car, it's only gotta stop once, with plenty of time for the brakes to cool down before the next run.

What a Nightmare!
It looks like it was crashed then cut up. "Joy Ride" before the destruction???
So sad.........
I hope the culprits get what they deserve.

Unfortunately this is happening way too often. As easy as it is to disassemble a race car, I just don't understand the need to seriously cut one apart, especially when you end up dumping it in plain sight.

The cops should have cuffed the owner right there. He's either scamming insurance, or he did something VERY wrong to someone who is not afraid to deal with things himself. If the owner can't tell the cops who did this, he either did it himself, screwed over to many people to keep track of, or he did something very immoral or illegal to the WRONG person. This is not random. To many things don't add up, and when that's the case... Go back and check the math.

I have known the owner since the 70's, him and his kids have raced this car for 30+ years. The car was like one of the family, there is no way this is an insurance scam! He is a good man, sponsors a bunch of cars at the track and is well liked. We'll see what the police end up with but i believe this is just some sick, irresponsible people with no respect for others property. Bob P.

Sure not feeling the brotherly love usually shown in these types of threads by some of the comments made in this one

Hopefully he's back in action soon and they find the thieves and lock-em-up

Well said , Mr. Wapner. Or should I say " your honor " or " judge " ?
Here is one absolute I am fairly certain of , and it has shown itself often enough in my 55 years that I smell it's stink before I see it.
People will NEVER accuse others of something they are not capable of themselves.
Not a judgement.........just an observation.
If this happened to my car , I could get a serious hate on.
When it happens to someone else , I can only feel empathy.

Sir, this here is just wrong. How you can possibly reach your conclusion with NO evidence says a lot about YOU. You slandered the guy, plain and simple. It's a free country, and a free internet. Doesn't make it right.

RIP
