IF youd like to get away from the ball and trunion but dont want to go through the whole changing the rear shaft deal, I did see where a guy installed a Dodge truck U joint onto the back of a ball and trunion trans. It was a 4 speed, but I cant imagine they are different. The front yoke bolted to the trans, then a U joint, then the drive shaft. Was a bit of custome work, but its easier to service then the ball an trunion. He didnt know what the parts came from, just "Dodge truck"

John, as long as I've worked on transmisions you never fail to expand. It seems I learn something new every time you post. I always enjoy your input.
