One benefit of 48* is improved valvetrain stability at higher rpm. I also believe with the relocated pushrod angle there's a greater area to port without breaking into water.

It gets the pushrod pinch out of the way, better head castings that make more power. More stable valvetrain for more hp and reliability. Fit larger pushrods more lift just much better design.

Pushrods going straighter can't hurt at 8Krpm. Plus, with the 59degree angle you lose lift due to the angles.

I'd say you are right on the edge there. My W5 340 would start knocking the adjusters loose over 8K. That had to be some pretty serious shakin' going on in there.

Did you see HP improvements over 8000 RPM I currently run a W8 R3 48dg we just start bumping our shift up to 8000 in 2nd and 3rd

I was trying to find more power.. my cam lift was way
to short and never found any more past 8200.. but
if your in the .800+ lift you should find more.. I
was in the .710 lift range

I'm thinking unless you have some real serious heads and cam you are already on the downward side of the curve at 8k.
