I was at a car show over the weekend and stopped at the amsoil tent. I noticed they had octane boost and I asked the rep there how many full points will it raise octane level. he says 3 full points with 1 bottle to 15 gals. I was skeptical, but bought 1 bottle to add to the last years gas in my cell. I just looked up the ingredients in the booster and kerosene is the main ingredient. how does kerosene increase octane? more snake oil?

Some of the info below is pretty old, so the results may not fit with how the products are made today. Some of the stuff tested isn't even available in the US and you got to read through a lot to get to the numbers that may apply to products we can get here.

If all you want to know is how the Amsoil booster did, I think one of the comparisons showed about 2 octane #s (93 to 95) improvement. Whether that means you'd actually run faster with it could be a whole nuther story.
