I am seriously considering picking up this truck!

It is a 360 gasser / auto / 4.10 rear 2WD, supposedly 60K original miles. Starts and runs good, haven't driven it but it supposedly drives out OK.

There is a little rust under the OEM rubber floormat (which is wet, so there's water coming in somewhere) but absolutely no rust through in the floors or rockers. Some small, easily repaired rust holes near the floor on the interior of the pillars between the front and rear doors. No rust in doors. Some small rust holes in the tailgate and right front fender. Heat / AC control is broken. Seats would clean up fine.

My plan would be to eventually convert to a shortbed with a 12-valve Cummins/ stick.

How much is TOO much to pay for it?

No, I should buy it
It needs to go with this

I've already bought this

I'd buy it! But I'm a sucker for a Dodge truck, especially CrewCabs

You would need to section the frame to put a shortbox on it. NOT a good idea if you are going to drop a Cummins in it..

I am truckless..

That Cummins ain't gonna know the frame has been shortened
I'd rather shorten that LWB frame than put the Cummins in the lightweight SWB frame

I've got a rust free RamCharger tail clip that I've been bouncing back & forth on adding to mine with a pop out ClubCab window to make up the difference in length

I've gathered all the stuff to do 4 buckets & 2 consoles in mine

That CrewCab needs you to buy it & love on it

A friend of mine sections frames on his Peterbilt twin-turbo Cummins truck-pulling trucks. He even removes some crossmembers to make the frame twist more impressive to the crowd. Hasn't broken one yet....

But the running boards have GOT to go, IMHO.

I'm thinking a 2" body lift and oversized tires on 2nd Generation slotted steelies with chrome OEM hub covers and rings...

Running boards have to go for sure!

If you do a 2" body lift all of that thick frame will be visible then
To do so you will need to put extra support under the center of the floor

I'd bet it's already sitting flat on the frame

I lowered mine some & it handles sooo much better

UPDATE!

Tomorrow is the day - I'm going after the truck! His asking price is only $1800, but I'm hoping to score the truck for between $1300 and $1500.

With any luck I'll have it buffed out and road-ready for the Mopar Nationals in August!

Wish me luck!

I have a 77 crew cab longbox frame that I need to get rid of if you want to practice on shortening...

I bought it on Tuesday, then had minor knee surgery yesterday, so I haven't even been able to bring it home yet - can't wait to start cleaning it up!

I got it for $1500....
