Yes on the weights since it was an externally balanced motor ( '70 & '71 4bb and 6bbl ) had the same thing...

Now, I haven't found anything on the exact weight and placement, sorry. I'll keep looking....

Get the B&M flexplate w/ the notch cut out for the external balanced motors and you don't need a weighted converter.
http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/bm1.html

BMM-10238 is for the forged crank engines that are externally balanced.

B&M makes 2 that look similar. BMM-10237 is for the later cast crank externally balanced engines.

FYI, the much-maligned (and mis-labeled) "six pack" rods aren't THAT much heavier than the old '69 LY's. With some decent pistons, my '70 440-6 is internally balanced using the "six pack" rods and has less reciprocating mass than the stock '69 LY rod engine.

Did you keep the stock large damper on it?

My '71 HP 440 w/ six pack rods is currently internally balanced...had it done when I freshened it up. Has a set of ROSS flattops in it. No more dealing w/ scalloped flexplates and weighted balancers.

I took it as the OP is dealing w/ a complete motor and is not in the rebuilding stage.
