I picked up a A body Rack and Pinion for my Dart that bolts to the original steering box location and to the original Idler arm location,
The Bracket is pretty heavy duty and it looks as though it may even clear my Headers.
I will post pics but I always have a hard time getting them sized correctly to add in to these forums.

Supposedly a NASCAR driver had fabbed it up.
It looks heavy duty enough, Hope it clears my TTi'S.

Where does it bolt up? Do you have a spare K-member you can mock it up on?

Hopefully it works better than a unisteer setup.

Have you checked for bump steer and those types of issues yet ?

Unisteer doesn't actually offer a setup for A-bodies.

I talked to a guy at the MATS a couple years ago however that had a Unisteer setup on his 67 Dart.
He called them and even though they don't offer a kit, they sold him all of the parts that he would likely need.
He said he didn't have much trouble with the install and liked the result.

I have yet to get around to installing it.
I tried to build my own a while back and I am very familiar with bump steer issues. Scary SH!T!
It looks a though it will bolt up fine but i will need to swap out my 8qt pan for more or less a stock unit.
It's nothing like the unisteer unit from what I have seen on their web site.

I don't think you can use a rack AND torsion bars as it causes bad bump steer issues. Torsion bars are in the way.

Torsion bars would be in the way of the regular steering linkage too.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

I measured the idler and Pittman distances and final tie rod positions and its an exact match for the stock installation.
I mounted the rack set up and with my center sump pan it bolts right in! It looks as though the only stumbling block is a extra steering support under the hood.
With it all lining up the same as the stock box and steering linkage components, im not seeing any problem with bump-steer.
Ill see about mounting something off the frame for support this weekend.
If anyone has a suggestion for the support im open to suggestions, using the stock steering shaft.

Any details on the rack? Who is the manufacturer, off the shelf or custom, etc...

Any chance I could take a look at that bracket to possibly make a copy? I see you are in MI. It's a big state, but maybe you are close.

Looks like the rack out of an '88-'94 Chevy Cavalier to me. Not a perfect match, but close enough to me make me think it very well could be.

The part bolted to the rack with the inner tie rod ends is new, though, no idea if that came from something else or is custom. The Cavalier used two really long tie rods that bolted direct to the rack where the stand off is bolted now.

Maybe standard rack and pinion inner tie rod ends could be screwed into a machined rod to make something similar.

Just some observations.

I don't see the Cavalier reference but I really don't deal with too many Chevrolets.
Fits the car fine but it's not going to work with my 440.
It was obviously designed for a small block. Its a shame, it really does set up in the car nicely.
To bad I wont be able to use it on my setup. The 65 has a 426 Hemi and the dart sports a 440.
