finished installing Quarters and I am just curious as to what the best product to use on the sail panel (lead seam) there must be a product other than lead that doesn't shrink? any input would be great thanks Rich

I use Rage gold body filler daily and have never had a problem.

So Rage won't crack over a factory seam? I hope so since that's what I used. I still think it will just from the flexing. Some people like metal to metal.

I had a one of my fellow restorers tell me he always welded a piece of sheet metal in the recess of the seam to keep flexing and cracking from occuring. Many of his cars have even been raced.

Weld the seem solid and fill it with your favorite filler. Never had them crack before.

Rich, If you want the factory type professional repair you really need to use body solder just as it was intended. If you have taken the time to put full quarter panels on you owe it to your self. There is a lot of body flex at that seam and plastic body filler isn't up to the task, but of course this is only my professional opinion. I would also be concerned with seeing the seam showing through under that fresh paint. There was a gorgeous purple Hemi Cuda at the Nationals this summer and the only flaw you could see was that whole seam on both sides of the car and there was no doubt that they used bondo to finish it. By the way I am fairly close to you and I do make house calls for doing lead work. Just a thought! Good Luck. JC.
