While I never met Gary personally he seemed like a great guy in the few conversations we had. He was a huge asset to this place and those of you who knew him must consider yourself very lucky to have that priveledge. RIP our friend Unlawful...

Wow. It doesn't seem that long ago. I remember it very well. The funeral was an awesome tribute to him. He is still obviously very missed.

When I die I want to go like my Grandfather did, quietly in his sleep. Not screaming like the passengers in his car.

I remember it well... It really says something about him that 10 years later so many people that never met him still remember and miss him and his contributions. We should all aspire to be that way to those around us.

I was just looking at the magnet on my fridge that had is Mopar Muscle cover on it and his dates. I was just thinking myself how time has flown by. I still have his phone number in my contacts list on my cell phone. I just can't bring myself to delete it.

I'll always remember when Gary volunteered to spend an entire day of his Florida vacation to help me get my newly rebuilt 440 fired up for the first time. Before then, we had never met! What a guy! This was back in February of 2001. Poor Nikki spent the day just watching TV inside, while we were turning wrenches in the garage. Dan was also on hand, lending his expertise.

Gary and his Challenger are the reason I joined Moparts on this date 6 years ago. I remember going to the Nats after seeing Gary's Challenger featured in Mopar Muscle hoping to see the car in person and speak to Gary. I did see the car in a parking lot off of Brice Road but never got to meet Gary, a year later he was gone.RIP Gary

10 years seems like a long time but this date seems like just yesterday. I always recall it being the Thursday before our Minnesota fishing opener back in 2004 and it was a rainout that weekend. We spent a lot of time that weekend reading the pages of posts of Gary here on moparts, very sad day.

Never forget the first time I met Gary in person after all our smallblock vs big block banter here on Moparts.
I trailered my (at that time) small block Duster that ran typically 10.40's to Gary's house where as a complete stranger he had set me up to spend the night there before we got up the next morning to head to Ubly to race in the Mopars against the World race.
I untrailered the car and drove it the 10 odd miles to a big Moparts party/ cookout at a buddy of Gary's house.
As the evening ended I followed Gary back to his house, he was driving his Challenger.
We came up to a stop sign to make a right turn, and when Gary turned he opened his Challenger up from a dead stop and ran her through the gears wide open( so I followed suit)lol!!!
I remembered thinking "What a cool friggin cop"
Unfortunately, after racing with him at Ubly the next day, then heading home, I never got to meet him in person again, but had certainly hoped I could.
Fantastic person, husband, just all around great guy.
I really miss him. You just flat don't run into guys like him every day.

I still can't accept that the drunk driver, going over 100 mph, got off with just a misdemeanor. That is not justice.
Rest in peace, Gary.

Sad,, very sad. He was the reason I joined as well. I'll never forget the Donut Race of Him and Fran, 10SECGTX, at Norwalk. Unreal. I hope there will be a tribute for him at Norwalk, as I have something VERY special that I've been waiting to give to Gary's wife, through Dudek or somebody.

Never met or talked to him but heard nothing but good things and the fact that he was a cool "cop" didn`t hurt either...........

Its Police memorial week this week across the USA, I was trying to get Gary to come to Cleveland for our Memorial week back in 2004 and Never ever did I think I would be remembering him for his sacrifice.

I take a training class every year around this time and I read a plaque on the wall " WE TRAIN TO HONOR THOSE WHO SACRIFICED BEFORE US "

I think of Gary and few others God Bless and God speed

Gary was one of THE coolest people I met in this hobby. He was able to relate to everyone. Whether you had a rusty slant-6 car, or a mint Hemi machine... he treated everybody the same: with class. He is sorely missed to this very day. RIP Gary.

Agree 100%.

Like Steff I also still have that magnet, on the toolbox in the shop....it's hard to pull a drawer open without noticing it.
