Yes, I was part owner in the car and Terry Earwood drove it since my partner and I worked for Buster Couch in Div II and we were not allowed to drive the car. It was all Black and was the Bowers Brothers Plymouth. We sold it to Bagwell when I got drafted in late 72 and Terry and my partner, Alex Bowers, went to work for Bagwell. Alex was the major part of the car and I came on board when Alex needed a little more money to finish the car. A few months later They won Indy. I was working the starting line with Buster and he told me he didn't want to see any hootin and hollerin if Terry won. It was hard to just stand there but I did. The car was original 70 Hemi Convert. One of 14.
Terry Earwood is now a driving instructor for Skip Barber Racing and was at Road Atlanta a while back and joined us at a test session at Atlanta Dragway. Don't think you could have knocked the smile off his face after he made the first pass. Think Warren would like to have Terry drive one of the AH cars when he is available.

Any idea why Larry Woo decided to sell his car and who might have purchased it? Jeff, Jake, any help??

I talk to Larry about 4-5weeks ago and I asked what was up with his car for sale and he kind of said he was basically seeing what he could get for it. He did not leed on like he was real serious about selling it. So I done't think it is gone. Jake

Thanks Stewart, So you actually worked for NHRA at the time? Buster was the Div 2 director? I last saw that car in 78 or 79, wonder what happened to it, you know?

I worked for Buster from 70-75 on the Div II Cert Team and on the starting line at national events. Later in the 80's and 90's I worked some starting line again with him a few times at the Gators and Southerns. Went to the same high school as Busters son, Mike. I was a few years ahead of Mike but thats how I got to know Buster.
There were actually 2 Bagwell Cuda Converts. The first Hemi car that Alex had was the original and then Barnett Racecars built another later in the 70's for Bagwell. The first has been restored but I don't know where it is. The second is owned and raced by Mike Bogina out of Kansas. You can see that car at autoimagery.com by searching Bogina. It held the SS/EA recorda few years back.

A good article in Drag Raction Action on Don Bales Silver Bullet. Mike Roth does fabulous work. The master cyl. alone is a work of art. While we were discussing it he showed me the tranny didstick. Awsome!! I don't know how he thinks this stuff up.

Bogina's car works, awesome car, love it, and yes it does have an interesting back ground. Speaking of pictures, I have 2 pics of Mike's car on my phone. 1 when it was red and on the bumper and one taken more recently, sorry I got away from the AH cars, but the thread title also says Super Stock

let me say this too,,,

1-hopefully my buddy brian will have his car out next year,, its a jennings car,, its show car quality by far.

2- new guy that patterson is doing a motor for, i think b and b is building the car,, same guy who built mine

3- herbert,, i think,, new holt car,, new westcott motor

4- nash has a mpr car and a new, last year, westcott motor

5- some guy from louisana,, having b and b build the car,, guy talked to westcott, though is a few months off from making his decision on motor program

6- barnett should have their car out next year,, its been a few years comming,, i think they are getting closer..

7- gary jacob should be back,, though with economy,, time will tell

8- cambell,, wilkes old car

9- perkins,, i think a jennings car,, depillo power

10- john baughman,,, having his car updated to 7.50 cert and having westcott go though his motor..

so thats like 10 new cars that should be out that werent out this year...

i heard wolkwitz brothers might be looking elsewhere for power... maybe westcott,,, i dont know.

a guy came over to me at maple grove and was talking about buying a car,, was interested in my car,, we never talked dollars since i didnt think i was at a place where i could sell it and make out at all,, needed to be faster.. so i think there still guys thinking about entering the class,, even though the economy is down.

jeff i just liked this guy...

Question/comment regarding # 6 & # 10

Barnett...is this the same Barnett team from the 80's that campaigned at least two 70 hemi cudas and one 70 Challenger in SS ??

Baughman, a great guy. My son & I were just talking about him wondering how he's been. His 70 Cuda 440 6 pack Super Stocker was our favorite even over his SS/AA Dart. John did a lot of R & D
that other teams took credit for over the years.
Glad to see he's going after it still!

His old 70 is on racing junk right now forsale.

Stewart, I am sure you remember Jim Kinnett's 68 Cuda, 70 Cuda and Pro stock Volare all out of Barnetts shop! .

Yes I remember those cars. Before that he had a 68 Hemi RoadRunner in B/MP. The Possum Corner Prince from Trickum, GA. When Jim quit racing he really quit. His son, Jimbo, would sneek up to Atlanta Dragway and race in Trophy but always said " Don't tell Dad I was here". Saw Jim and Betty this summer, he was building homes. Don't know how that is going now.
After all his Mopars I think the last car he ran was a ProStock Firebird under the Kinnett Bates and Velde banner.

Seems like Kinnett was in the finals at Indy with the 68 SS/AA car about 78, I'm a little fuzzy on the details but the one thing I do remember about his 68 car was it was the first Mopar I had ever saw with a 12 bolt Chevy in it. I thought what is this guy thinking, he can't be a Mopar guy.

Mike Boginas Cuda has always been one of my favorite cars in S/S along with Darren Smiths Dart and any AH car.

Small Hijack

Darren is a good friend of mine. "Trick" does not even come close to what the car truly is.

BB/A, I assume your the other Wolkowitz brother. Saw your new vette at Pro Start. Beautiful car. Kurt is truly an artist with pipe! I am waiting for an update on a 25.1e cert and was questioning going elsewhere because of the wait, but after seeing what he is doing with your vette, I'll wait for Kurt!

Jeff,

Happy with our initial runs with new combination which we had at Maple Grove.

Still a bit to go but think we are on the right track.

Looks like a bunch of guys have lifted their games which starts to make things more interesting.

It didn't always have the 12 bolt,I think it had a Dana originally. He ran the 12 bolt trying to free up some horsepower.

The vette which Kurt is building is my brother Dave's. He will run bb/am. Couldn't convince him to joint myself and other brother Bob in ss/ah ranks.

Kurt certainly does quality work and has built a couple other cars for us over the years.
