I recently swapped my original 742 open 3:23 With 7290 rear yoke for a 489 sure grip 3:23 but now realize that it has a 7260 yoke. My drive shaft will now not fit the smaller rear yoke. I noticed that Mancini has 7260 to 7290 conversion u-joint but not a 7290 to 7260 like I would need to make the drive shaft fit this center section as it is. My question is if I can easily just swap the rear yoke from the 742 center section to the 489 ? Will the large nut come off with my air gun and tap off with a hammer? Are the splines the same(29?)on a 742 vs. a 489? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Mike

What Alaskan TA said. You could very likely get one locally & be up & running quicker. Ask for a "Mopar 7260 to 7290 conversion ujoint" and there are different brands and spicer and neapco are high quality. Not sure of the quality of the Mancini brand or what your horsepower/app (stick/racing/street) is. the neapco # is 2-0527. On a high horsepower app you'd want a non geaseable "solid" ujoint (no zerk) & you grease the caps by hand upon installation & open it up & regrease the needles at regular intervals & not sure if that is available in the 7260/7290 type we are after here. it's stronger cuz there is no hollow passage inside for the grease to flow to the 4 corners. But to k.i.s.s. I'm thinking a regular conversion joint of any brand (Mancini or otherwise) will do you fine but I'd be surprised if one of your parts houses did not have em on the shelf

Unless you have a crush sleeve eliminator in the 489 you dont want to pull the yoke.Once pulled if it has a crush sleeve eliminator you have to get it back to spec after its removed.Rocky

Go to napaonline.com and type 347 into the search box - it's there.

Yeah, I think they changed their numbering system for awhile, and then changed back. Not really sure of the whole story. I work part-time at the local NAPA, but only work about one Saturday a month anymore, so I struggle to keep up with the changes!
