Hey guys - Just wanted to share my current engine build and hear what you think I might expect in terms of power and ET...Of course I have an idea, but I always love to hear your thoughts and always value the opinions of the real world Mopar racers. Its a 440 based 520" stroker in a stock '68 440 block. Stroker kit is from 440 source w/30cc dished pistons. Heads are Indy EZ 295 CNC's prepped by Dwayne Porter and final compression will be around 10.5-1, cam is a Comp XR292hr hydraulic roller (242/248@.050, .555 lift 110lsa), Indy Dual plane opened up to max wedge ports, 1.5 Crane gold roller rockers, Single line external oiling. No carb yet, but should be a 950 4150, 1 7/8 Hooker headers, 3" exhaust w Flowmasters and tailpipes with 3" factory tips. Trans is auto and 3500 TA converter. This engine is going in a 1970 Super Bee with all steel and full interior, and everything that came from the factory including no cage, but it does have weld draglites with 275/60 MT drag radials, 3.55 8 3/4 sg. Also HD leafs and pinion snubber. I know I'm leaving a lot on the table, but want to keep it otherwise mostly stock and street friendly. At some point I'm sure I will take it to the track to see what it can do. I do plan on dynoing the engine and will post that info when it happens. Thanks all

I think sorted it will run 11.0 to teens at 120. I am thinking 550 or so hp and 3850 lbs on your bee. I am thinking along the same lines with my 63 savoy but with ported reproduction maxy heads, max wedge intake and exhaust manifolds and a flat tappet solid. I think the cam will be the limiting factor but I bet it will drive around town nice and be all done by 5500 rpm.

Dannysbee - thanks and I also happen to love the 62-65 B bodies. Sounds like a very cool combo you are putting together Fullmetaljacket - Lots of uncertains, mostly in the suspension. Pretty sure the carb will be a quickfuel 950. 11.0's would work for me Exit1965 - My cam is the exact one Andy used, I purchased it from him. He ran eddy heads I believe, but I will not expect anywhere close to 630hp. P body - youre correct, this car is not set up to run the quarter (or the eighth for that matter). The tires are about the only thing I have going for me. Might run low 11's, or maybe low 12's doing the slip and slide!

Tony I am a big fan of your cars. Loved the wagon. I am shooting for 11.50 in 85 degree weather. Gearing and tires will be same as you with Dvorak springs and adjustable shocks front and rear, subframes connected and no rollbar. I think that will be good for some 1.60 60' times. On my hp numbers I was figuring full grown horses not ponies. Lol

A friend from the Bronx with a 69' Bee, full interior, full metal jacket body, 500 ci. not sure of the Hydraulic cam profile though, but good enough to idle and drive around town in the heat and drive back and forth to Carlisle, Sh#tty 750 carb drenching the engine with raw gas, 323 rear cogs, drag radials and 8-3/4 rear with no traction, No Suspension mods at all, Trans with a mild shift kit and no other tricks, AC, power brakes, power steering, power windows with serpentine belt, no air scoop what so ever, 11.70's with me driving for him. You need to address a suspension plan and a good tune along with a good fuel delivery system. Should haul some mail. Right convertor and other mods in the rotation devices will fetch you the 60' shots you deserve. Still a can of head scratch and misery.

Tony my 493 is sorta simular to your build as I use the Indy dual plane and the EZ heads that Dwayne Porter tweaked a bit but he did not do alot of porting. I also use a 440Source kit with the 4.15 crank and dished pistons to get 10.6 comp with .045 quench as its a pump gas eng. The carb is just a basic 850 DP and its a solid flat tappet from Dwayne thats 264 & 270 at .050 with .592 and .585 lift on a 110 LSA. I use Hughes 1.6 rockers so the lift is about .630 and I have it in the eng on a 106 centerline. 2" TTI headers and the TTI 3" X-pipe system to the rear bumper. I use Dyno-Max Ultra-Flows also. I really like the combo as I told Dwayne when he speced the cam for me I wanted to make power and have a nice hotrod idle but still needs to be very streetable which it is. I use a Dynamic 9.5 converter that flashes about 4200 but drives like a normal converter. My 63 weighs just over 3700 lbs and I am using 4.30's with a 30 x 9 tire. It has run 10.70's at almost 125 and to be honest I have not really done any real super tunning as all I have done is jet up the 850 some. I just have not taken the time to really spend a day tunning as it runs so nice the way its setup now and it really cruises nice. I feel I could get 10.50's without to much hassle if I ever get after it. I would like to try the Mopar 337 intake with more carb like a Dominator or one of the HP carbs. I run it on pump and capped up as I have never uncapped it. That sounds like it will be a real nice driving combo and should run 11.50's to 11.0's with hook. Good luck with it. Ron

Brad and Airwoofer - My 8 3/4 will have some good axles and studs by the time I run it, and also a driveshaft loop. It already has a new driveshaft with 7290 joints. Still, I agree the 8 3/4 will be the weak link if it hooks.
Danny - I want to see some pics of that 63! Sounds like a cool build.
Wize - You were a trailblazer with that 508 and the stage 5's. That was the first street stroker I had read about and pretty much havn't considered a stock stroke build since. I think my old 511 was a little milder, and also ran exhaust manifolds. Lets see some pics of the new wagon!
Fullmetaljacket - AC, power brakes, and a crappy carb and still pulled off 11.70's. Your buddys Bee sounds like a real overacheiver to me!
Ron - If my car was set up to handle it, I would have just cut and pasted your combination. I bet your car with a dominator and good single plane will pick up 2-3 tenths, but 10.70's with a nice street friendly top end is pretty darn respectable.
