Wondering what the purpose is of the rear plates installed in the rear passenger area on the sides? Thinking of leaving them off...

May need a pictrue to answer that, a lot of things back there might be consided metal plates.

It's a 74 thing, additional crash protection. I would leave them off, they weigh a lot.
