Has anyone had trouble with a leak at the block and also at the bolt head, I have used the gaskets that come in a complete gasket kit and have had the adapter on and off about 4 times with no luck getting it the stop dripping oil, have used grey permatex, have used nothing but the gaskets no luck either way, where can I find gaskets that will seal ? (have also tried a different adapter-same results, they were both cast iron adapters)

Permatex sells the round circular block gasket by itself & it is a slight bit thicker than the one that comes in the 3 piece MP kit. Make sure the block recess is clean ed with a bristle brush & the gasket stays in place as you lift the adapter up into place & use sealer. On the other leak I'd check the surfaces of the underside of the bolt head & the snout of the adapter & there's a gasket that looks sorta metallic like ex manifold gaskets that reportedly seals pretty good with sealer, dont remember what brand it is but you might be able to cut a piece out of a header gasket. Good visual as there's a reason (as you know) for it to keep leaking like it is. EDIT found it, FelPro # 70522

Make sure there isn't an old gasket stuck in the block. Don't ask me how I know this could cause a leak....

Check to be certain all of your surfaces are FLAT and CLEAN. Inspect the block, adapter and bolt for other defects such as gouges to the sealing surface, cracks and possible bolt stretch. Unless you have history from when it was brand new, you wouldn't believe what people can damage with a wrench or socket

Here is our Superformance Products kit #340-K5 made from the best materials available, however it is no magic elixir for a component that has issues.
I disagree with using any sealers in this area. These are machined mating surfaces so leave it in your tool box

Mine used to leak like crazy, especially at start up with a high volume oil pump. Every morning I would be crop dusting on my way to work, when it dripped down and hit the starter.

I heard somewhere that the cork gaskets are too thick and can prevent the outer gasket from getting good compression. So this time around I compared the old compressed cork gasket to the new one, and used a razor blade to carefully shave off about 1.5 mm of material leaving it slightly thicker than the old compressed one. Cleaned everything extremely well and used permatex high tack on both sides of all gaskets. (Yeah, they are machined surfaces, but mine were machined forty years and three rebuilds ago) Torqued the bolt to 50 foot pounds per the manual, and let it sit up overnight.

Leak at the bolt head may be from over torquing trying to get it to stop leaking?

Just started up the engine for the first time and so far so good. The gaskets weren't included in my overhaul gasket kit from Fel-Pro, so I had to buy the three piece mopar performance kit.

Hope this helps. I know what a pain in the rear those leaks are. And wish me luck that mine doesn't start leaking again!!

The plate can bend over time and many installs, then not clamp down as well as when new. Thats when it's NOT a good idea to drill extra holes in them. (When not using the 90 degree deal...)

I heard something about either the alum or iron adapter needs a thinner or thicker cork gasket inside than the other metal type, the little one on the inside that's on the bolt threads
