well, all I have to say about these 81-90 trucks is that the main thing that kept them alive was the Cummins setup, otherwise dodge may have folded...

you have to love the Cummins motors. I have 2 of them on the road, and both get in the 21-23 range, and get 16-18 pulling a loaded car trailer! There is a guy on the Turbo Diesel Registry that has the 4cyl version of the Cummins in a W150, and claims 27-29 mpg in a fullsized 4x4 with a 5speed! Fuel mileage and towing capability, what more could you ask for!!

I agree Sam, What sold me on em is I drove a 96 with 250,000 miles on it 800 plus miles with a loaded box trailer in tow (5000 pounds of cargo), and got 18 mpg.....at 70 and faster. I just think that no more than a short wheelbase truck weighs compared to a 3/4 ton extended cab longbed, it would have to get great milage, and be able to pull a flatbed car trailer no problem. The "noisey" earlier diesels are becoming more readily available at the salvage pools and ya can pretty much find what ya want within a month or so engine-trans combo wise. I am looking.....

Sam, do ya think half ton spindles will support the weight of a CTD? My hopes are to have a lowered, shortbed regular cab truck, and I really dont want to have to run 3/4 ton wheels. I already have a Dana 60 that is 5 on 4 1/2...I know I will have to run way heavier front springs. I am just kinda spooked about runnin half ton spindles with that much weight up front. Bill
