I don`t how many of you have mapped out your metering blocks but it`s a blast especially playing with(and losing)the tiny drill bits. Last night I tore into my hp-1050 to get a better understanding as to why I need all of the jet and come to find out the cross wells that feed the boosters were smaller than I thaught as in .144 which the pros say to drill to .157-.160 so mine are at .159 now. Also the HP series moved the IFR`s up top instead of in the bottom where they are submerged so that`s next on the list when Pettis orders my brass blanks so I can drill and tap and RE-start tuning again............anyone else mess w/this stuff and what were your results. Off for my initial tests..............

That c@$t worked cos now I`m fat at 11.8 at wot so bet. that and the hi-flow 4-window p/v,we`re on to something.......... Time to start jetting down and getting to a more reasonable jet spread.

I will be setting mine up some as it runs great but I want to lean my part throttle cruise a tad. But I have an older 850 with only main jets as it has no other jets anywhere so looks like I may be drilling some air bleeds. I am happy with my full throttle jetting so I may work my idle/transfer system a tad. Ron

You can also install a smaller transfer slot restriction in the body which will help. This stuff works cos now I`m at 12.2 wot so I`m droppin the primaries one number and gonna leave it for now..........

NOW we`re talkin..............Holy smokes this puppy`s finally coming around and to think I went 9.79 off the trailer w/a jacked carb, angled shocks and at 3200 lbs. It`s track time baby............Special thankxxx to ajcasini on this board cos he too was nuts on by stating w/ a .09 pvcr I need about a 14 jet spread and that`s exactly where I`m at..............82-96 and mid 12.`s at wot...........Party time and ass whoopin time on the rematch w/the nova..........

You can achieve the same results in many different ways with a carb. It doesnt really mean its jacked up. Someone might add jet to the secondaries, while i may increase the pvcr and get the exact same results as an example.

But i applaud what your doing and im sure you will be a cab wiz in no time with your efforts

Those are things i did with my six pack over the years, and im proud to say i had a 9 second 3700 lb car with that kind of mess sitting on my intake

The biggest problem w/it 6-pac was the angle channels were way to small for the booster channels which were .160 and that`s a wot restriction big time at my power level from what the smart folks say............

I usually find some pretty decent torque gains by reworking the emulsion circuits. It has picked up as much as 3 tenths on one car ,with most of the gains in the middle part of the track.
I have tried to tell people for a while now that just jetting for best mph isn't the end of tuning. You are usually rich or lean elsewhere on the track.

Time to check em................ And I agree about the emulsion circuit cos in my mind, the jets are for over all max flow at wot so I tailor the curve w/bleeds............

Thankxxx.............here`s one. My ifr`s are on top of the block and have been reading that it`s more consistent w/em relocated to the bottom submerged in fuel so what`s your take.

What`s a good starting point size wise............I think mine are about .039 iirc and I ordered threaded blanks to fine tune it...........Thankxxx.....

1. Yes, I've been getting way into the details of carb tuning and suspect we've been reading some of the same stuff. It's all part of my recent admission of being a Carb-O-Holic.

2. When I actually have my junk running again, I intend to put in some "real world" testing and look forward to having a wide-band O2 for the first time.

3. If your IFRs were .039" in the upper location, IMO start out w/ .037" after lowering them. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts as to what improvements you find from this mod, as I've been looking into doing the same thing.

I plan on lowering them when I get the blanks and will let you guys know for sure but it`s night and day difference now w/the cross wells drilled out to .159 and the four hole p/v............There`s some great reading at Motorsportsvillage.com where they discuss the "theories" behind why submerged is better than mixed from above.

Well, I finally did the mods that Aj and others had suggested and it`s a night and day difference. I lowered the idle jets into the bottom of the emulsion wells and plugged the middle emulsion hole and now this puppy idles nice and crisp around 12.8-13.4, cruises bet. 13.4-14.0 and wot is bet. 12.2-12.4 rock solid. Before the mixture screws could be turned over 1/2 turn and not have a big affect but now I went a 1/4 turn in and it went dead lean. I can`t thank Aj and others enuff and someday I just might get real good at this stuff............

I've been doing it for quite a few years now..
I have 5 sets of blocks that I'll put different curves in and just switch them out when I tune..
You can read all you want but the only way to find the truth is to do it...
Guys who know what to do make their living doing this and will never tell the whole truth..
And what is out on the net just scratches the surface..
