Has anyone here walked into Jegs or Summit (insert other auto parts store here) and fabbed up an X-pipe exhaust for your B-body? I am just trying to figure out what X-pipe works and how long of an S-bend I need. My plan is to go to the rear axle and run turn downs from there. Thanks.

I have cut a fishing spoon shaped piece off of two 45 degree bends and made my own x pipe, works well. I have also done this with the legs not flat so it actually curved down for angle also. Don't be hesitant to experiment. AN X AFTER THE MUFFLERS GIVES THE X SOUND AS WELL. But not the scavenging benefits. Speedway motors exhaust kit.

Very cool. I'm looking at 2.5" X-pipe and Pypes Violator mufflers. I think I'm going to start with the s-bends and the X, then the mufflers and turndowns.

That looks good! Is that a kit or did you build it out of lengths of pipe?

Just don't build an abortion like this and you'll be fine .
JohnRR you have been beating on that piece a lot. While I agree with it probably not functioning as well as it should, someone may be very proud of that and you could be devastating that persons fragile sense of accomplishment and creativity. AND no its not mine. LOL If you keep posting that pic its going to be known as the JohnRR X pipe experiment.
OOOPS too late. I typed in X pipe in the search and there it is that pic and your screen name next to it claiming you built it. OOHHH THE HUMILITY! JK Have a good weekend everybody.
I'm still waiting on flow tests and drag strip testing showing how this design is better than the others ... since it's claimed the person who designed it is a highly acclaimed Exhaust designer/tester ???
I do feel bad though because the person that has it on there car is very proud of his car and I don't mean to be harping on that member. .

I have not run with a different exhaust. It sounds good with the Ultraflows, although I'm not sure I'd want to take a long trip with it. It has a howl that sounds very exotic. I was searching for information about the optimum crossover area so I could fab my own x pipe and ran across the attached article. Its not obvious in the picture, but the tubes run through the indents in the trans crossmember. The tubes are 3".
EDIT: I am running 2.5" tailpipes from TTI, not downturns.
