You are leaving out a couple of factors that may influence your decision. The current mileage and general condition of your truck, The cost of the reman VS the used unit, and condition and miles on the used unit. The 45RFE trans in my findings is a pretty reliable unit and I would have no problem putting in a low-mile used unit calling it good. That is, ASSuming you have an automatic trans. What happened to your trans?

sorry my truck is a 2002 4.7 and I have 203xxx miles on it and haven't really had any problems out the truck but this trans..

now the problems started when they had a recall to put a switch and adjust something on the trans..it has a grinding sound when you put it in gear and when its in rev it will start to pull then stop then start again..i use not drive the truck much as im in my work truck most of my days..the last 2 yrs I have done a lot of driving in and out of town to jobs..im 2 hrs away from home now working...and sometimes I have to go back home 2/3 times a week for tools or pick up parts for my work truck I cant find out here..(dump truck)...im not sure of the miles on the trans as I haven't talk to the company yet just got a price on it..and was told it has a 1 yr with it...for 600.00 ask a shop to rebuild the 1 in the truck was told 2000.00 with 1 yr...thought about getting a cummins but don't want any payments lol I have tried changing the fluids every few months and filters but it still does it..some times it don't do it at all..now its got to where it will jump up and down in rpms going down the interstate and I don t want to be on the road coming or going home broke down if I can help it...any advice or help would be great...also when I start the truck up some times and put it in gear it want even move for a few seconds like the fluid has to be picked up or something...just hope I never have to leave in a hurry......

Even though the filters have been changed, still sounds like the main filter may not be seated all of the way into the front pump causing a loss of prime. The seal in the pump where the filter connects can also come loose causing the same problem. This is very common. The filters are also know to crack down the side of the filter causing a similar issue. There is a TSB on this beleived to be caused by the spin-on cooler filter from MOPAR with the letters "AB" at the end of the part number on the outside of the filter. Might wanna drop the pan and have a look before doing anything drastic.

il will take a look and see ..its worth that but I have changed the fuild and filters in this thing about 8 times and always the same end results... this time I will look at the mounting points and make sure cause I never have thought of it cracking or losing the seal ..and most the filters have a plastic pc that it use to mount on with as well..thanks

Any chance this could be the TPS issue discussed in another thread? Might be worth a few dollars to find out.

r.

The TPS wont cause the delayed engagement problem he has.
