Has anyone done business with Plum Crazy Garage? Their web-site says they specialize in Alternator and Starter restoration. I am considering Starter restoration.

I've used both vendors, both are very good at what they do. Plum Crazy did this one.

Here are a couple side by side. In fairness to both vendors these are not the same alternator part# so small details may vary from one to the other, differences between them in terms of details are not necessarily incorrect. The one on the right is a Plum Crazy alternator, is a for a 1971 340, the one on the left was done by Dixie, it is a 1970 Hemi unit.

A couple details on the Plum Crazy example shown have been corrected in their process since building this one, the black paint on the pulley grooves was removed (as it is believed most or all were bare metal in this area as shown in the Dixie example) and the small amount of orange paint that drooled over onto the stator was removed because the cases were splotched with this paint before being assembled therefore no paint should be on the stator.
