I guess you cant call it a half ton. but my newest Diesel power mag has a article about the new 2015 Chevrolet colorado. It will have a 2.8L duramax I-4 that est 200 hp and 350 torque.said it should get over 30 mpg and will be rated to tow over 6700 pounds. Said it will be built in Wentzville MO. Which i didn't know gm had a truck plant there. Mopar65

Nope. International used the Nissan SD33 and SD33T (turbo version) in the Scout in the late 70's until end of Scout production in 1980. Some of the early Scout Diesels apparently had Nissan and Chrysler logos cast or stamped into the valve covers because Chrysler Industrial was the importer and distributor of Nissan industrial engines at early production. Later Scout Diesels didn't have the Chrysler logo.

Chrysler used the Mitsubishi 6dR5 engines in the late 70's until '85 or '86 in the D150 as an economy option. It was in no way a tow engine like the later Cummins 6BT.

Chrysler also offered a Mitsubishi 4d55 and 4D55T in the D5, which in itself was a rebadged Mitsu offering. The same 4 cylinder Mitsu Diesels were also offered in the Ford Ranger.

The Mitsubishi Diesel was only available in 1978 in the full size trucks. The only 1980s full size with a diesel was the 1989 Cummins.

the datsun LD28 2.8 liter was a non turbo 6 based on the 280Z block and crank---it was a really solid if slow (non turbo) diesel---it had 7 main bearings(like the 240Z)---the nissan SD33 3.3 liter was cheapened up by making it a 3 main bearing block but some came with a turbo---the SD33 can also be found in CJ10 aircraft tugs---oh yeah datsun changed their name to nissan but kept their engine nomenclature the same...

You are probably right about 78-79 only for the 6 cylinder D150. The 4 cylinder in the D50 was produced for a longer time.

I read references to the Van and Ramcharger having the Mitsu 6 cylinder too, but I can't remember that from "back in the day".
