What is the width of the housing, and what is a good donor for an 8-3/4 housing? Pad location is irrelevant, I can weld on my own. Thanks!

I was told the 72/74 rears were a tad wider than the 71 and earlier rears. Never had the chance to prove it tho. I had a 74 in my shorty.
I am truckless..

Awesome! I just happen to have an A body housing with Moser axles laying around. Thank you!

heres my 85 stepside with A-body 8 3/4 with 12" rims tucked I did the rear shackle flip and bolted the a-body housing right in on top of the leafs. a caltracs system or SSM lift bars work well with the flip flop on the rear of the trucks.
