the trans I got out of my 89 Ram TBI 318 parts truck is it a 904 or 999?

I read where the lockup converter is electronicly controlled? is this true on a 89 truck? I read it somewhere on the internet

Because I had this trans looked at and cleaned at a transmission shop & im getting ready to put it into my 84 D150 with a 318 4BBL

does it have noids on the VB?

does it have a wire/sender hook up on the back of the cast by tail housing?

those would be elect lock-up

early lock up 904s like I have use hydro pressure to lock-unlock the TC.

IIRC you could swap out the VB for an early one to ditch the wire hook up on it.

as far as 904/999??? does the tailshaft have the cover for snap ring on the side or on the bottom...on the side it is a truck unit and may be a 999

get the #s on the pan rail and I will see if I can find it on my trans ID list.

hey Scratch, yeah mine does have the switch at the back above the pan rail & I just got through talking to the transmission shop, they said just to leave it unhooked that only I would have not lockup which is fine that it will just shift like a regular 3 speed & they claimed that there wouldn't hurt anything & he's built a lot of Chrysler transmissions for 40 years. He's built most of my trans when they've needed to be rebuilt, but thanks for the reply & help

I stole this link off the HAMB board, hopefully it works.
www.transmissioncenter.net/swapinformation.htm

Know nothing about the company, but the info should be good. Gene

As usual, the local trans shop knows nothing about the operation of the trans....the electrical connection at the rear of the 999 is to unlock the converter, it locks up hydraulically with or without the wire being connected.

Only the OD transmissions have electric lockup.
