I have called a few driveshaft shops to see about getting one made. What are ya'lls thoughts on steel vs aluminum. One place recommended alum.

I need to have one made for my Ramcharger and one shortend for the D100. If I had lots of money to burn and could afford the latest trick, then I would go for carbon fiber
Actually I would probably settle for steel and maybe go one size bigger in diameter for the racer and just have the original steel D100 shaft shortened. Most of us on here are not after the last hundredth of ET, but maybe you are

No, not after ETs, the car probably won't see the track, but I will drive it hard. It has a bunch of HP though. I have called a few shop checking prices, and one big shop in NC recommended Alumn., so I was just wondering what others thought.

This is a job for Dr Diff!

In fact, I just ordered one from him.

The diameter and material shoud be determined by the drivehsaft length and driveshaft RPM If price was no problem I would choose carbon fibre also

Depends on your application and budget.
When I changed from my 8-3/4 axle to the Strange S60, I bought a new (shorter) driveshaft that also uses the 1350 U-Joints.

The new driveshaft is the Mark Willams 4130 Chromoly, and is SFI43.1 approved.

It looks like the aluminum drivesahfts are usually about 1/2" larger diameter than a steel version, so driveshaft loop clearance should be considered.

I've been calling around different places, and the price difference between steel and alum. is around $50. Thats not much of a difference. I only found two shops that explained alum vs steel. Seems like it comes down to a little bit of weight, and critical speed. So I'm still studding on it. All of the good shops are in the $400 range.

Stick with a premium steel unit, ask what balance speeds they balance the shaft up to, for a non OD equipped car balance speeds between 3000-6000 RPM are enough...IIRC your combo is HEMI/4spd?...stick with a steel shaft, aluminum and carbon fiber are not up to the task for that application DAMHIK
