There is a 72' 340 drive train for sale in my area out of a 72' Duster. It comes with a complete 340, 4 speed w/shifter, drive shaft, and 8 3/4 sure grip drum to drum. Asking $1800. I want to run a 5 speed so I won't need the trans, but is the rest worth the price? Are 72' 340's only differnt in HP due to the heads?

Pretty sure it was the pistons that were different and the earlier cams were a little hotter too.

Is it running? rebuilt or an original.
I'll take it.

Same cam on 68 auto and all 340 thereafter.

If its in running condition that's a very nice price.

Around here the complete rear end is worth 1K on its own. I would say it's fully worth the asking price.

An a-body 8 3/4 with a sure grip is worth a nice little chunk. 4 speed will be no problem to get rid of either for a good price.
