I watched some vids of the car and couldn't help but notice that you always pump the throttle on that thing, that is a TOTAL NO-NO! When you pump the throttle on a big blown alky engine like that you fill the cylinders up with fuel and each time you pump it you throw more fuel on the fire, so-to-speak, until something real bad happens, like you hydro a cylinder or it misfires and tosses the blower off of it.
I feel your very lucky it didn't pop the blower in your face when you were cranking the throttle sitting in the shop while you stood over it. If you notice, a blown alky or fuel car NEVER pumps the throttle during a burnout, they know if they do they risk bangin' the blower off.
I hope you can get things back together and regardless why this happened understand that you should NEVER pump the throttle on a combo like that, your asking for very bad things to happen, you may now know that.
Good luck regardless of what direction you now go.
Wow, it's deja vu.

Injector open maybe a 1/4" and it is screaming at about 8500 RPMs!
Here's one from years ago when I had a wipple screw blower on the car. Needed a little more leg with that setup. lol Had two MSD 20 amp mags on it too, instead of the one which is the standard today for blown cars.

Well from a post the other day it sounds like he is selling off the chassis and keeping the running gear and body to put on a new chassis.

This car is EFI guys. It's a new combo and there are very few people in the country, who have much experience with this sort of thing. EFI, also means that most of the throttle pumping, has no effect. I think it has been determined that a bad TPS was the culprit for the backfire. It got a big gulp of air and no fuel, because of the faulty TPS, went lean and banged the blower. That in itself is no big deal and would have been easily repairable, but when it banged the blower, it knocked a fuel line off and started the fire. Lessons have been learned and things will be changed, but it likely won't be the last time the blower gets knocked off. There is a reason blowers are mounted on aluminum studs and have burst panels. But hopefully that will be the last fire.

After tuning many different EFI systems on forced induction vehicles I see a problem with that injector hat. It has way to much throttle blade surface. I don't think you could ever get the initial tip in work properly even with the best tuner, it will be either idle or WTFO!
Its like when BDS came out the their original FAST BDS fuel injection, even with 2 blades on the injector hat and 1 blocked off the tip in always seems to go lean regardless of tuning.
Anyhow hope you get it all working again! The blower looks bad [Edited by Moparts - Keep it clean]! Not hiding under the hood like my dart.

The injectors aren't the problem, the change in map when you crack the blades to 1% TPS won't even trigger the TPS accel enrichment. You will have to play with the dMap (I believe thats what they call it) on your BS3, but even then I think you will still be hard pressed to make it have a nice tip in without going lean. Talk to Don Bailey, he knows his stuff when it comes to BS3. I've tuned about a half dozen cars with a BS3 but Don is by far the God. I looked at some Moran injectors to upgrade my 165 Precisions but I figure i'll max these out before making the next step... 500 LB injectors are like watermelons compared to grapes! Their F!%@$ huge!

I was quite ticked off about it all getting wacked.
For those that missed the rest of it.......
Monte is correct the TPS had an issue and started the original problem.
It will get worked out.I have a few more hands helping out now with the EFI and with a new chassis going in the car soon it should be a whole lot better.
It should be hard for it to go lean because of the hat,the injectors put out 500lbs an hour.Just needs some tuning.
Well, i for one am glad your sticking with it, Jim. Dont know why your other thread got whacked..the mood around here has not been the best lately ..lol... it's improving now, tho...
