I used to have a mild (stock) rebuilt '69 440
in a C body Chrysler. The cam was the Mopar
.455 lift hydralic,stock 906 heads with just a 3 angle valve job, 1-7/8 headers,CH4B intake,
and a Carter 625 4 bbl. The car would fall flat
in the upper (5,000) rpm range and run out of steam.

I went back in it a year later, changed to the
.509 cam, put a Holley 3310 750 4bbl on it, and it was a completely different car! Took it to
a local track and did a best of 14.10 @101mph
After that I always stuck with the Holley.

Hmm, change carb and cam, but it must of been the carb that did it. My thoughts say the cam probably had more influence on it than the carb.

Seriously, how much time does a street type car spend at 5000+ rpm?

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

The carter 625 would be your best bet. If you want to do better w/ the MPGs you'll have to swap the gears out, or maybe try a taller tire.

A Carterbrock is really simple to rebuild. No need to pay for it to be done.

I want my fair share

Not paying to get the carb rebuilt. Hp383 is a friend. I suck at rebuilding them. Haven't had to really mess with what I've had. tried to rebuild obey for my 5th ave and was getting 7-9mph. I suck at carb work.

Probably going to run a 33" tire.
