I am thinking of picking up a 514 inch short block that has aluminum rods in it and I am thinking of putting it in my street/strip Dart. The Dart usually sees 100-300 street miles a year. What is everyone's thoughts of using aluminum rods on the street?

Bill Miller himself told me use them on the street, no problem. He said that's where to recycle race rods that have to many passes.

For that amount of miles and I assume a much lower
RPM, I wouldnt even give it a thought... that wont hurt them a bit

Thanks for the replies, I think it would be fun to put in a big inch motor and trade out my 3.91 gears for some 3.23 gears.

Do I do anything different with an aluminum rod as far as warm up before driving it? Any other tricks to running them?

Do you know the history of the motor and which brand and age of the aluminum rods?

No I don't, I will look more into now that I have found it to be okay to run them on the street.

Check out Bill millers web site I think he tells you to use 20-50 weight oil in a street car.

What's the purpose if warming it up before driving? Bearing clearances?
