68 Dart convertible with pearl white interior. The seats, sun visors and door panels are pearl. Is that it? I assume SEM Super White is still the paint to use for the seat hinge covers and A-pillars? What about the three pieces of metal trim on the inside of the windshield.(at the top) They look like a flat white right now but I don't know what they originally looked like. Is Super White OK to use on metal trim?

I assume the top and bottom of the doors should be gloss white?(regular single stage exterior paint)

What about the convert rear panels? Is the upper section a different shade of white then the lower section?(separated by the aluminum trim) Should the lower section be Super White and the upper section gloss like the upper doors? or...should the lower section be pearl to match the door panels and the upper section gloss?(my panels are in bad shape...very dirty and cracked)

No the Super White matches the 70 interior, 69 and down use the pearl white, contact Herb's parts on Moparts for the correct shade/dye

What is the trim code on the fender tag?

Under TRM it reads P6W

Under U it says W

According to the MyMopar decoder...

Premium Trim Grade, Vinyl Bucket Seats. White on Black Interior. White upper door frame color.

My picture looks like the top and bottom of the rear panels are lighter then the center.

Would the A-pillars and upper windshield trim be pearl as well?

The top and bottom of the rear conv panels were are one continuous piece of molded plastic. So it will all be the same color.

Yes, but I've seen the upper sections painted black or blue depending on what the upper door color is. Is that not stock?

If the upper door color is blue, the rear panel is still all white?

I looked at the rear panels closely before I left for work. The center is definitely pearl. The bottom and top are not. There is a paint line on the back and overspray where the non pearl/flatter paint was sprayed. The A-pillars and windshield trim look to be this non pearl flatter paint.

You can see it in my first picture. The center is pearl to match the door panel. The top and bottom is a non pearl to match the top/bottom of the doors.

I might pick up some Super White and see what it looks like against the pearl white.

It'll look like pearl white without the pearl iridescent sheen, in fact you can use the Super White SEM and top coat with the clear Pearl from Classic Chevrolet's line of interior dyes to create white pearl, or buy Herb's paint already formulated

When I painted the metal trim on my Challenger I used Trim Black. I used Landau on the plastic pieces. Is the Super White fine to use on metal?

Yes, I used Super White on the metal painted white sections of my Charger doors, roof rails, seat potmetal side pcs, etc, etc,...I do recommend you use SEM's several clears they offer, low lustre, satin, and gloss, I prefere the low lustre, I sprayed it on right after the last coat of Super white was applied, it has an invisible appearance, no sheen, looks natural, and dose not alter the color, but it helps keep the white, white, and scuff free, and makes cleaning easier, without possibly disturbing the base color, I did my Super White interior about 10 yrs ago, and still looks fresh as day one...

This is a relatively new pic, only about a year or 2 ago

I used the Super White SEM to chamge the upper door pads and NOS arm rest from black to white, the main panel is a new white Legendary pc, the lower and side sections of the door frame steel are painted with SEM Super White as well, this pic is about 5 yrs ago...but the SEM still looks fresh as day one, and no issues with fading, peeling, etc, etc...I cleaned everything with clean white cloth and lacquer thinner before spraying the SEM, I don't use the adhesion promoter prior to spraying, I spray one mist coat, let dry, then a good 2nd coat for coverage, and a 3rd if changing the color of a dark pc to white, or a lighter color, and top off with clear...I even clear coated the SEM Landau black that I used on the dash, console, etc, etc

Mike are you using that in SEM cans or in a spray gun?
Looks real nice either way!

Great info...thanks! I didn't use a clear on the Challenger but I'll try it on this car. Since it's a convertible, any extra protection will be worth it.

Yes, all white.

I think the 67-70 B-bodies are the same thing.

I think someone added the two tone.

The plastic A-pillar molding is injected molded plastic and originally would have been molded in the same color white as the rear conv panels (same material).

Both, small items, short shoots, I'll use the spray cans, but if I'm set up to do a large "inventory" of parts, esp large items like dash pads, I'll spray using a gun, to have a more uniform spray pattern and appearance...gun is preferred
