Spicer 5-527X "is" discontinued. Neapco(New England Auto Parts Company)part number 2-0527 has a "forged" cross body with grease passages. We have beat on many Neapco 2-0527 over the years. Before non greasable joints became "all the rage", guys thought if it didn't have a zerk fitting, it was junk. The solid body is just a by product of the non greasable design. No need for grease passages as caps have positive seals vs pliable seals made to purge grease during maintenance. If you want a Spicer solid body joint then the best way would be to change either pinion yoke or weld yoke to match the other 7290 yoke. Then you could run Spicer part number 5-811x(solid body 7290). Also, Neapco has a similar offering in their new Gold series, part number 2-1175G. Carry On

I use Neapco HD joint with the red seals, they are chromemoly solid spider joints. They are the company that makes the Lakewood brute strength joints.

That is what I use too. Sold under the brand Brute Force, such as NEAPCO 2-1175BF (note the BF suffix) for the 7290 joint. Even Autozone sells them.
