Has anyone seen a picture or rendering of the new PS Dodge body? It is scheduled to debut in Gainsville I guess. Jason Line said it is real slippery. Sort of curious now.

I'd think that'd be too small.

It won't look a thing like the factory body anyway. I'm sure they'll lengthen, narrow, swell up, etc. whatever they need to.
Kinda like Nascar...only way to tell what kind of car it is is by looking at the decals on it.

You are correct! And it torques my bolts! I think they should go back to making them take a car off the production line and gutting it out and building a car. Stock body panels and lights even if they aren't funcional. but what kind of light are you going to get out of the decal on the front?

Back in the swing of things at Painless again! Great to be back!

Actually the new cup cars are going back to more of a "stockish" look.

I think they should use the Fiat 500.

The best thing they could do would be to legalize FI. Then that silly scoop could go. That would help out the more stock look right away.

They already have that. It's called Stock and Super Stock. Greatest show on Earth and they can't get anyone to sit in the stands.

If they go back to stock bodies in P/S Dodge would get killed, especially a Challenger against a Camaro. Challengers are HUGE!

why's that? I'm sure the intake will still have long runners and need a ton of air.

Didn't say they had to use those cars. Make the manufacturers do what they did back then. Build a car based on what is needed for racing and then build the same body for the street. Back in the day the manufacturers would consult the racers and design something for them and build. Even if it was a BIW.

With FI you are only moving pure air, less dense, through the intake. Therfore the manifold design changes greatly. Can be lower and smaller and still get the job done.

The biggest question/problem is convincing every Pro Stock driver to scrap there 100k cars for a return that may do nothing. I know I wouldn't be excited to scrap years of R and D to make such a change since winning is the end goal. Next you got to discuss making a stock body as safe and stable at 215mph. can't be a change just for change, it needs to be effective change.

Plenty of stock body cars running close to that mph. Look at drag week. Personally I couldn't care less about the pro stock cars of today, much less top fuel and funny car. The races are boring they are either going to shake the tires and shut it down or make a full pass right beside the other guy....boring. X275 and 10.5 races are much more interesting

As tweaked as the Camaro & Mustang bodies are, a Challenger could be similarly modified to narrow it and flush the grille.
NHRA says the noses "follow production shapes", but there's no way; seems like the loophole is that the manufacturers supply the templates and NHRA accepts a pretty loose interpretation. Just look at the fascia, hoods, fenders & quarter panels: if they weren't carbureted V8s on gas with a stick, they'd pretty much be ProMods.

The only reason I watch NHRA National Events on TV was to see Pro Stock but the way the cars are going I am loosing interest in that also. I wish they put N/SS on TV. Ron
