I recently swapped disc brakes onto my 70 cuda from a 70 challenger. I dont use a brake booster. I bought a manual disc brake master cylinder from advance auto but ive had trouble with it leaking so what would be a good master cylinder for this? Also Ive kept the stock drum brake proportioning valve. It works good but the pedal is extremely hard. Its hard to push but doesnt stop the car too great. Whats the best way to make the pedal not so hard to push and get better stopping results? The hard pedal doesnt bother me so much but not being able to stop good does :/
To make it work proper you will need a disc prop. valve. As far as a master I would use the stock app., just get a good one. A leaking reman master, let me guess it's a A/1

Do your homework & select the correct MC bore size for your app so you have good brakes the 1st time.

I would suggest a 7/8 or 15/16". I used a 1&1/8(manual) & it was bad-poor leverage, it took too much leg/ not enough travel. I would add a disc proportioning valve(there are several stock variations) rather than adding an aftermarket adjustable prop valve in the rear line with your stock drum prop valve. I defer to Dr Diff for the final word on the best selections for you. But from the tone of your post it sounds like your linings/pads/friction surfaces ain't right that you dont have enough braking even when you stand on it.

How do I figure the bore size I need?
You need to figure out a little more than just this, but start by contacting Dr Diff. You can find him on this site.
With manual front disc brakes, you need a master cylinder that gives you a hydraulic advantage or your pedal will be real hard to push. You can accomplish this by using a master cylinder with a small bore that still has enough volume to poperly activate the brakes.
Dr Diff can tell you which one, or just ship you the right parts to finish your conversion correctly and safely.
