Has anyone used a stock 65 floor shifter for a cable shift 727 trans, to shift a 66 and newer linkage 727 trans? If so what modifications were made to make everything work? My 65 Satellite has a console and floor shifter that I would like to retain. I have installed a newer trans that has the linkage shift. I have a B&M Pro Stick shifter that I thought I could adapt to the console but, it would take butchering the console top to make it work. So on to plan B.
Thanks, Digger73 (Mike)

I dont remember if you can go with later shifter/earlier trans or vice versa but see what imperial transmission services has to offer. I ain't sure if that is the correct name but I would google it. EDIT www.imperialservices.net

The vans used a cable shift on a linkage trans in 1968.

Thanks for the response. I knew someone else had to have wanted to install a newer trans and use the stock shifter.
Thanks again, Digger73 (Mike)

The first cable shifter that B+M came out with in the 60-70's had a handle that looked a lot like the Mopar cable shifter. Discontinued eons ago but the one that Imperial Services offered looks like it's twin. Don't know if it is still available or not.
