Hey guys, I just received the car back from paint... Here are some shots as it is now. I will post as I restore and find things that I think might be interesting.

I put it on jackstands, and I'm starting to get in on front and rear suspensions. I cleaned on the rear axle and low and behold it had the inspection markings under the under coating. Looks like a "E" on the center and a "L" on the passenger side axle tube. From what I can see the rear has never been apart. I was the first to remove the tank exhaust shields etc...

More to come later....

Thanks stickman. Here are a few more shots since I've removed the front and rear suspensions.

Greg,
She's looking very nice. Nice to see you preserving as many of the original markings as you can. Plan on painting the wheel centers the light version for 70?

Thanks Troy, I am torn about restoring this car... What I mean is I want to keep some of the original things around. Like the rear diff markings and such. So I am gonna clean and try to keep them and maybe clear over them to help preserve them if you will. Not really wanting to paint over that stuff. Maybe I'm being weird but I think those aspects are the cool part of unmolested areas of a car. And, yes those are just a set of wheels thrown on the car to transport. I have new centers and rings that are correct to be installed when finished.

I like it cleaned up just like what you are doing. If you refinish one piece it will look out of place and you have to refinish everything, then it's just another restored car. I am currently putting my 70 Challenger back together and your photos are helping a lot, thank you.

Sheldon

Glad to help Sheldon.
Okay, I've been working on both suspension systems. I managed to clean on the rear axle a little more and found that the painted parts did end at the axle tubes and they left the last small portion of tube and backing plate natural. Also, I've included a few more shots of inspection markings that I found after some extra cleaning.

That's all I have for now. More to come soon!

More progress....

I painted the rear suspension stuff satin... because I wanna just clear the rear diff and leave it alone with the markings, and I thought the satin wouldn't be too much of a distraction from the flat black housing???? I am still deciding whether or not to paint the springs... Mine were natural, so I'm thinking if I leave them that way it'll help support my decision on leaving the axle as is????

Is this an Original California built car. Loaded with the build sheet?

This car is a LA built car with build sheet. The original owner took delivery of car and the dealer owner gave him the build sheet upon picking up the car. I know it's rare for LA cars to have build sheets... I also have the window sticker(manufacturer's suggested retail price label) and the dealer invoice(vehicle shipment memorandum). This car was bought at Don Snavely Inc in Redlands, California and stayed in Rosemead, California all it's life til 2004. I have most inspection sheets with dates and mileage intervals for the life of this car. It's had some work done over the years but alot of the car was left untouched. So I'm keeping as much as I can as original or using original items that aren't too weathered or deteriorated beyond refurbishing...

Dean, this car belonged to a Leo Affi all it's life. He lived in California as I posted earlier.

Just about have the rear ready to put wheels on, and raise the front to slide the eng/trans/k-frame into place from underneath.

I'm hammering away....Slowly.
