Does anyone know how to reliably paint headers? Will sandblasting them and then using VHT work?

I've always sanded them down then hit them with brake clean and used grill paint. Had a set on my old 67 coronet for 3 years, still looked good when I sold the car.

My vote goes to VHT, it lasts for years if you do it right. Doesn't cover well though, you usually need 2 to 3 cans.........my 340 has been through a half dozen heat cycles now, and it still looks like I just did them.
