I don't mean to hijack the post, but how do the cheaper Devilbiss StartingLine guns compare to the FinishLine series? (I got straight A's in English, so I think I'm justified in participating in this thread...LOL)

I think that for $30 you can use the gun 1 time and throw it away, I use a good gun myself but use the crappy ones for primer then toss them

I sprayed this car with a cheap 15.00 hf gun.I also only used cheap omni base/clear.I never even wet sanded it do to it being a daily driver. It maybe true that an expensive gun may spray better.I just like the fact that if you dont like how it sprays you can just throw it away.

Im kinda like you Ive painted several cars over the last thirty years and found out the gun does help make the paint job!! I have a Sharpe platium I bought seven or so years ago thats worked perfect for me. (about $250.00) Im doing a challenger now and wanted a cheap Hvlp gun to spray the urethane primer with to keep it out of my good gun. The first thing I noticed with the cheap gun ($90.00 for two) is that it took a lot more paint and there was tons of paint dust everywhere so Im back to shooting it in my Sharpe gun. Go to your local body shop and see what they use and start from there. Hope this helps, Bill

I use a DeVilbiss GTI Millenium for any job that means something. I have a Binks M1G for collision/spot work. The GTI is a real nice gun and came with three different nozzle sizes. Not real cheap but then again paint is not cheap either. Carpe diem.

I been doin this everyday for the last 14 years and a good gun makes a big difference. I have two SATA digital 2000's and they are the best I have ever used.

I like using the DeVilbiss guns..I use a GTI or a GFG Plus and a couple of SRI's the SRI-W I find a great little spot gun that can shoot whole panels if I wanted.
I'd suggest a GTI the price has come Way down on them and a great gun for the money.IMO

I shot this hood with a DeVilbiss 630G spot gun
