im running a crane 260 h cam in my 440. it has 9.5:1 compression, exaust manfolds, ch4b edelbrock intake, 750 cfm carb, crane valve springs, bone stock 516 heads, 2400 stall converter and 3.23. the car weighs 4400 with me in it. it is very healthy for what it is but i still want more.

could a bigger cam help me? mabe the crane 278.

Are you looking for more Mid-to Upper RPM power? If so you would benifit from the 278. Thats a HEAVY car and tall gears though... If your looking for power pulling away from a stoplight you might be dissapointed.
In your current setup does the converter actually stall around 2400? If so, the 278 is probably a safe choice. You can get more lift at the same duration with other cam manufacturers--something to consider.

I would look at the lunati 262 grind or maybe the 268.Pulling the heads and putting in some 1.74 exhaust valves and some mild porting would go along way with the cam you have.
I believe the 278 crane would soften up your bottem end some as is.It should have more mid range and top end but the heads would be the limiting factor there.

what im looking for is more pull at highway speeds. it has NO prblem roasting the possi rear from a 25 mph rool so i have enoufgh torque. just want a stronger pull on the highway. would porting the heads make a noticble diffrence. any good head workers in/near conneticut?

Those heads have small valves. You could spend a bunch of money on them and get them to flow. You'd be better off looking online for a set of 915's or 516's that somebody has already done.
