Who makes a good set of dodge truck 440 shorty headers for a 78 D200 2WD. Any help would be great thanks Dan.

I used the hedman 78070 shortys on my 1974 D100 440 pickup with auto, they fit really good but you need to use the newer mini starter for clearance.

I used the "OBX" brand (I think that's who makes them) from e-bay. They were less than $200 bucks, stainless steel, and have 1/2" thick flanges. Been on for 3000 miles now. Of course, this is on my 57 and you do need the mini starter.

Hey Rattler are these the headers you bought?

Those look to be the same headers Dan. I bought mine a couple of years ago, and didn't really remember the brand. I did buy mine off e-bay though. These were the only headers I found to fit my application.

I bought the same set off of EBAY and for the meantime they are working good. You'll have to make up an extension pipe though. I had quickd100 weld a couple of 3" pipes for me. The stainless will turn color but for the price I couldn't complain.

Did you have to notch the frame?

Yes took a smooth notch out to go with the profile of the header; maybe 1/2" or so just to make room for engine movement

I found these but I don't like the crude welds on the flanges.

I followed the E-bay ad back to their store and found a similar set that will work perfectly on my SB powered '87 D100. I love the idea of a stainless steel header with a thick flange
My project does not need to be tuned like a race car it just needs to flow smoothly, present minimum installation hassle and last a good long time. And the price is geat

I found these, they are a little more expensive but the quality looks much better. http://www.ebay.com/itm/191029568658?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648

Those are exactly the same ones I have on my truck. They will turn color once you run them.
