I am gonna use an aftermarket coil as part of an ignition upgrade on the AAR but would like it to appear correctly finished.

Thanks in advance, Kevin

Although it never really says in that thread (or that I found), it appears that they were gloss black, like most other black parts under the hood. Can anyone confirm or dispute this conclusion?

Its difficult to define the correct appearance in a written description but I can say this much; even if they were originally painted gloss black, they don't appear to be a full gloss black, I'd call the appearance a semi-gloss. Likely the result of a very low quality gloss black that flashed off a bit causing it to look duller than a full gloss. If you take an original paint coil and buff on it you can make them pretty darn shiny, but then again, the factory didn't buff them to a shine either

Is there an aftermarket hi-perf coil that looks like an original? For color, I almost want to say Satin...

I've seen aftermarket coils from high gloss to almost flat black. The current Mopar Performance replacement coil is the one the current reproduction guys (green stamped coils) all start with.

Anyone running a round Mallory coil? I'm just wondering how they compare in size and looks to an original. I'd like to use a good coil for a stock appearing look - paint it black and use some green transfers.

I bought an Accel Super coil that I plan to do that with, that is why I was asking color. I have an unmolested 70 Dart at the shop right now that I can check the size on but I believe it is the same.

As far as the gloss black turning to crap, I had that happen today on my pulleys, you might be able to see the fade in this picture. I just a bad mix out of the can is what I finally decided. Maybe I'll just use it to paint coil.

OK, so I am pretty pleased with myself tonight.
