Didn't know they were out yet! I do know there is a site for them already, but haven't checked it out lately.

Too early to know much, me thinks. Engine is a proven design, so I don't expect any reliability issues. Read an article that said a guy drove some 628 miles on a single tank, going 80-85mph on the interstate, and still had 20 miles worth of fuel left when he got there...?

Now for the surprise, it's a 3 liter engine (182 cubic inches). I wonder what kind of manifold pressure they run with that.

I guess my true interest would lie in the towing capacity in terms of it handling a loaded 24' car trailer. Of course fuel economy is of an interest as well.

I'm guessing it would be in the mid 20's for PSI at least to get the HP they are out of it, it's well over 1HP per cu in

From what I've read that's not gonna happen stock and doesn't have the CGVW to do it.
What's gonna be interesting is what the Nissan guys are doing with their Cummins V-8.

Didn't see any Diesels on that page. The 9K towing was all HEMIS.

I wouldn't touch one. I think Fiat made a big mistake unless I'm proven wrong. Hopefully I'll eat my words when I seen the first one to go 500,000 without issues but I doubt it.

The US military uses them so they have to be pretty solid, but the military ones have been touched by Gale Banks. IMO, if they have the DPF and EGR dialed in they should be alright

It looks like they use it in some military applications (read the article to the bottom)

This might not be such a rousing endorsement, when I think of Gov't diesels all I can think of is the thousands of GM 5.7 diesel Blazers and light trucks they surplussed to get them out of their fleets.

I also remember years back when I worked for the Vermeer trencher people, we had some VM diesels used in some of the equipment ... that was another fiasco.

I hope for Dodge's sake it won't work out that way, but Fiat and VM both conjure up bad memories.

It takes gasoline to interest me.

that one picture they showed is of a 6.5 v8 turbo diesel not the v6 one. I work for the military and am around the hummv all day. so far i have not seen a banks v6 diesel yet. now i have read wear banks took a factory hummv 6.5 turbo engine and modded it for the military use. but so far i have not seen one yet.but i work on a training base, so maybe they are only used in combat units.

You need to select crew cab or quad cab at the top of the page, then load more results at the bottom.

Will be interesting to see how good they turn out to be

If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

I can picture a 2014 Ram diesel 1/2 ton as a shortbox, regular cab 2WD with the R/T hood, lowered and nice wheels.
