My 318 has no choke thermostat in it. I have one to put in, but where does the wire attach to?

The wiring was heavily "modified" by a previous owner. There used to be a wire coming off a field wire, was that it?

Thanks!

If I remember, that's an electrically assisted choke. There is a three prong switch back by the distributor the wire attaches too. It will feed power to the choke only when the key is on and there's oil pressure.

Thanks guys!

I am going to go with the field wire. I got hold of a complete intake and there is no evidence of a timer on it.

Since it's just an emission control device I think I'd snip the wire and call it good.

try finding an older non electric thermostat. if you just snip the wire it may open to slow causing it to run rich longer.
