I changed my springs retainers amd keepers. My machinist said they would be OK for a smaller hyd cam but I run a .588 solid.I sold the parts to a guy for 40 bucks and we were both happy.Rocky

For as little as these heads cost complete, you could just throw the springs away and still be ahead of the game. It's encouraging to see good bargain heads for a Mope, like Ford and Chevy have falling out of the sky.

you can buy just an inner spring from comp cams #974-16 making a double with enough tension for a flat tappet or hyd roller

Would you recommend doing that for a comp XS290S or will the stock Stealth springs handle that cam?

I have a set of the first non CNC batch, the springs on them had 140 lbs pressure on the seat and 340 lbs at 600 lift, coil bind at around .700, if I remeber correctly. so I would say they will work fine with that cam and even 1.6 rockers I would probally shim the springs up so they had about .080 from coil bind on all sixteen springs and replace the retainers and valve locks with some super sevens or ten degree lock and retainers that would fit that spring properly I haven't use them on a motor yet but I will shortly, maybe after having them done by Jeff if I can get a deal before this winter

I here ya Josh!
I had Jason Line do up a set of 452's back in the
90's because that's all there was for guy's like
us. No Eddie RPM's, no CNC Stealth's and no stroker
kits . Just hard working 440's!
