I know from some old ported iron heads that putting in a bigger intake valve "just because" won't necessarily make much difference. But for something like an Indy SR or EZ (or a regular Victor for that matter), when would it make sense to switch from the standard 2.19 to a 2.25 intake? Would it be based on cam lift, or how much porting the head has or what other things would determine if it is a good move?

To me its the amount of porting... you could have
.900 lift but the choke point would still be the head
weather its the valve or porting(along with the intake
and carb)... but I'm sure that most head porters
do as much as they can then try a larger valve just
to see
