Scott, can you put the markings on a power steering hose? My originals are good, just can't read the lettering.

Sorry for digging up an old thread but has anyone else seen a mix of lines. I have an early March build AAR, all original clamps in place, soft line fwd (engine bay side) is EB and carries a D10319 marking as well. The soft line at the back is the KV line.

From the looks of this thread if I need EB line I'll be making it.

Yes, looks OEM alright. EB seemed to have been phased out after 1969/70, I haven't seen any sources for it to date. I'm working on getting it and others properly reproduced but it's a challenge for sure and will be a while.

There are a lot of reproduction rubber hoses and lines out now (for most applications) that compared originals, aren't even close! It's an area of O.E. restoration detail that needs A LOT of improvement

Totally agree, most of the KV hose markings I've seen the "K" isn't even in the ballpark.
I may have to see what I can do to replicate it myself, a difficult task, but if I have to do the EB line, It'll just be another marking.

So have you ever seen where the hose on the front and back don't match?
Hard to believe I got the very last section of EB and they were forced to use KV in the back.

No, haven't seen that but there was certainly some mixed inventory, afterall, it was just a rubber fuel line built to spec, didn't matter who supplied it. Also, some items were delivered to the assembly line with the rubber fuel lines already attached (fuel filters, etc.) so there may have been source differentials depending on the item and the vendor.

How many times have you heard that the reason old lines have such faded looking ink stamps on the lines because of age/heat/wear, etc.? Here's the same one on that filter, been in the dark since forever, it's NOT faded, it looked that way when new.

Scott,

Remember our 69 GTX vert that has a SPO date of 10/3/68 had the EB fuel lines up front and the KV in the back too. Seems that they were using it in late 68 also.

Yes, like most everything, there was vendor supply overlap. Sometimes 3 or more vendors supplied the same line, same thing happens in todays manufacturing world. I have seen MOSTLY EB lines on pre 1970 cars, I cant say when KV products hit Mopar but I I'm guessing by what I've seen it was 1968 or so.

Awhile back I bought some dayco or thermoid emissions hose at the local parts store.
It said SAE 30R7 KX in the same font and size as the original KV marked hose I was replacing on my 79 B-van.

I know 30R7 is the SAE rating of the hose (not for fuel injection) but the KX part caught my attention…

Hey Scott,
All the repo KV hose is made by a hot stamping machine, originally of course it was printed on a rotary dial machine.
I always had rubber stamps made and used an ink that was diluted slightly.
I have found a lot of variations on hoses used, from plant to plant especially.
Here are a few pics. As you can see, some have dates, most do not.
