I have a 528 hemi that I'm buying a fuel pump pushrod for. Should I go bronze or chromoly? I have a solid flat tappet cam in it and Im wondering what would be better.

I hope someone who knows about this will chime in, but I was told not to put a repop pushrod in my hemi (solid flat tappet cam), since the metal is softer than the oem rods. Not long after I put the new solid Ultradyne cam in the Hemi, the car vaporlocked a lot. Turns out the pushrod had over 1/4" of metal dished out on the cam end. Then recently, I was having vapor lock issues on my 71 Power Wagon's 383 & on checking the pushrod, it also was short. Put electric pumps on both & issue solved. A knowledgeable Mopar racer & restoration shop owner told me the repops are actually a little shorter than the oem rods. Could be that was the issue on both. I'd make sure you measure either one you buy & compare it with an oem rod to be sure. Maybe someone can shed some light on this.
