Never heard of the 3 on the tree in any 72-87 Powerwagon or Ramcharger.

The 3 speed on the tree was the base transmission 4wd and 2wd up to maybe 79 or 80. They were not common as most people would pass on buying a rig equipped with it. I believe it was only with the 6 cyl. and 318 8 cyl..

My early 72 was 318 3 on the tree. Converted it to floor shift. Then 318 with a833od. Now its going to be a 360 a833od.

The 3 on the tree is just plain worn out in my truck. If I could rebuild or find a decent column, I'd go back. Got many interesting looks shifting the truck on the column, pushing the clutch pedal haha. Definitely a rare bird for sure.

Powerwagon as in 4wd not 2wd

I know that

But the quote was saying that they were available on 2wd and 4wd but not common. I was just offering my truck as an example of a 3 on the tree

State of Confusion
I can recall seeing one Ramcharger slant 6, 4 speed, in my lifetime, in person.

Im sure there were many produced, but one thought comes to mind... WHY?

my neighbor had a 2 wheel ramcharger slant six 3 on the tree---he turboed the slant and put in an 833 4 speed which was hooked up to the stock linkage on the column----reverse was handled by a pto cable----his anti theft devise was leaving the column shift in gear and pulling out the pto cable.... Any more details on this one? Sounds like a hoot
