I was racing my 73 Charger.... Swapped the 318 out for a 400 with a 484 cam and 750 Holley... Had Pro-trac tires and 3.23 gears.. Ran 15.20 at 92mph in second gear. Funny thing about that car was I never lost a street race light to light and I would run anything I could get a race with!!

my 69 road runner 440 727 3.55,13.50s @ 102.drove it to the track and back until one night u joint let go.got trailered after that.my high school days 1980-81.at 16 I raced a new 1980 formula firebird in my 68 318 notch barracuda, there were 3 guys in the bird and me and my girl friend in the lowly cuda [so they thought],ant way they kept trying me,so I finally said meet me at the quarter[our own little strip.i drop the gf at finish line and he has his buddies get out at starting point,we agree on start procedure and I spank him,he want's rematch I spank him again.i load up the gf and they track me down later and give me a six pack of beer.at 16 I thought that was cool.

I owned & raced a red 63 Dodge Max Wedge factory racer for 19 years starting in 1982. Had fun with it and it said "Danger Brothers Racing Team" on the side.

The same car I race now, just on its third incarnation! Bought it in 1978, tubbed it in 1980 and put the 535 in it that year, did an entire 2x3 ladderbar chassis in 1994/97. Five different engine combos over the years.

This, my first dragster...stock block and heads 340 with a roller cam, glide equipped and shifted with a very sketchy homemade shifter....138" wheelbase, it was a blast to drive, ran low 6's in the 1/8th...broke a rod in the burnout in 1984 at the bracket finals at the now extinct Green Valley Raceway in Fort Worth.

The car in my avatar. Original Cuda 440 4pd super trak-pak. Stock it ran 13.0 @ 104 mph. Did some work to it and it could just touch the 11's but dialed in at 12.00 since I didn't want to put a bar in the car.
I ran the same plugs I drove back and forth to work with. I would just make a coupld high speed runs on the street to clean them out.
That car was terrible in the snow.

I remember that car! originally owned by Don Slout from Williamsport PA.
Later owned by Larry Arnold, who named it "Barbarian".

Boy, that was a long time ago!

Yeah, I heard it got around. The earliest I knew was Larry Arnold and I bought it from John Troxell. I sold it to a friend of mine who is working on getting it back on the track. He said he was surprised I didn't kill myself because the reconstructed frame rails were about to come apart. I was 19 and knew nothing about racecars back them. BTW, the car is only about 5 miles from Beaver Springs Dragway right now. I wish I had kept it.

A 1965 Dodge Race Hemi. Never had to work on it because I didn't have a penny to my name to buy parts with. Still my favorite bracket car. Don't have any pix. Wish I had one.

In '80 and '81 I ran this '68 Satellite Vert that I bought from a co-worker, he left it sit in his garage for 5 years and the battery split open and made a mess of all the chrome and detail work he had done on the motor compartment. It had a 400 built at D&J speed shop in Cincinnati, Dana 60 with 4.10 gears, column shifted 727. I picked up a free pair of worn 9" slicks and mounted them on some 8" wagon wheels I had, took the car to the track and was shocked when it ran 12.90's thru the sidepipes. After two runs the tech man came over and told me I could only run 13.50 with a convertible without a roll bar. I changed the carb to a 650 with vacuum secondary and a stiff spring, car slowed down to 13.70's and I raced it that way for 2 years. It was cool to unlatch the top and hit the button to lower it for a breezy ride home.

This next car I ran against many times, a guy built it for his wife and she had moderate success but quit racing when she became pregnant. In 1983 he sold me the car and I sold the Satellite, maybe a dumb move, but I had terrific success with the Chevy II. I won 11 races in '83 and 13 in '84 between Tri-State and Edgewater, car was deadly consistent and only ran 12.60's with a mostly stock 307.

In '85 I built a 355 from an RHS kit and ported my own heads, car picked up a second with no other changes and ran a best of 11.44. I ran Super Pro with the car for two years driving off the foot and won about 6 or 7 times. Took it to Moroso and ran the 5-day in '85. Oh, the memories! Sold the car and got married in '86, quit racing until I bought my Duster in '93.
