I've been considerring 440 souce's 543 kit. I realize that a dry sump would probably be required, but I am curious exactly how much grinding is required to get this sucker to spin...
I wouldn't dream of using this kit without a girdle. I really like BCR's main cap & girdle set up, http://www.bcrproducts.com/caps_and_girdle_system.html but I'm not sure how to feel about aluminum mains. What would you guys suggest??

Don't know if this would apply to your engine but lots of industrial engines used aluminum, Cat for one, there were aluminum brgs. available when the 413 was in it's prime.

Thousands of bigblocks have been built with aluminum main caps. There haven't been any reported problems. One of the factors in aluminum fatigue is the number of cycles at maximum loads. It doesn't seem to be happening with the main caps. I'd not be scared.

Sweet. The web site led me on to thinking it was good to use aluminum mains but I just figured I'd make sure before I destroyed the $1700 stroker kit. Thanks guys!
