Terry, the add say's they're 3461222's - aren't they the 15x7 rings? paper tag on one in the original listing shows 3461222 - I'll have to check the paper tags on my originals tomorrow - thanks

I thought that 15x6.5's where sold by Mopar under 15x7 part number at least in 90's and up??

I bought a set in boxes just like that ebay add in 1989 when I was 17 years old. Still waiting to go on my 71 Challenger R/T.

Chrysler never changed the part number when they narrowed them up in the early-mid 70's.I've seen a lot of guys get burning on these. Some paying over 1K for a set of the 6 1/2" ones.Like Terry said, real NOS ones bring huge money.Last PAIR I saw went for 1500.00+

Here's what to look for so as not to get taken.
Original 70-71 true 15x7 deep trim rings used this label, in this case a 1971 trim ring 3461022.
I believe true 15x7 original trim rings never came in a box, just loose in a labelled bag.

Using the same part number as the 15x7 ring, Chrysler sometime in the mid 70's replaced the 15x7 with a 15x6.5 and this was the label seen on the 6.5 trim ring, plus they could come boxed as shown, vendor code 20816 shown on label.

I believe sometime later in the 90's there was a vendor change and they were re-issued ( vendor 20818 seen on label in auction replacing 20816 ).

I was the high bidder for these trim rings. They arrived today, I was expecting them to be 6.5 and they were which is fine with me. It's been several years since I saw a real 15x7 for sale and even then the price was too much for me. These are fine for my 72 Runner.

Mike.

I have some battle scarred original 15" rings that I would sell to anyone wishing to try and restore them. PM me if you are interested.

I am surprised that nobody has stepped up with a proper repop. I wouldn't mind a set for my Charger.

Does anyone have any plans to make a proper trim ring?

Dave

Sad story is that in the mid 2000's Chrysler performance did just that with the 15x7 rings. After several years of delays while they worked on tooling it, and everyone chomping at the bit promising to buy multiple sets when they were available, both the brushed and polished rings were released around 2006 or 07 under PN's P3461222 and P3461043 available through Chrysler and they were even made in the USA.
The consensus was all too predictable sadly, they aren't 110% perfect identical to the originals, at their $75 or $85 each price they were way too expensive
They were soon discontinued, disappeared and were forgotten within a year or two of their introduction.
I wouldn't get too optimistic waiting for anyone to try to put out another accurate reproduction.
Maybe BE&A can get some good 15x7's and 14x7's made up in China, but don't hold your breath.
I have a couple sets of originals that have the usual dings and scrapes, I wonder what it would cost to have some restored. Far more than $75-$85 each I'm guessing.

That's where I bought a set 4 or 5 years ago shortly after they came out. I wonder if they really have any left or if they haven't updated their website in a while.

I checked with them this morning, the Chrysler Performance repops are out of stock and as I mentioned in my earlier post, canceled by Chrysler.

Having owned these cars back in late seventies I had brushed trim rings on my 70 Challengers which had 15" ralleys. I have pictures of the cars when new and they were brushed then too.

The trim rings were a problem even way back then. I used to go to the local Dodge dealership to order them new back in 1980. When the parts came in, if the box had the blue and white Chrysler parts logo on them they were correct. If they were the Mopar red, white and blue, they were not. I was told that when they did the 15x6 wheels they made trim rings for them and used the same part number but it left that big gap when installed on a 15x7.

One day I was at the dealer when the factory rep came in. I was having this problem getting the correct trim rings and told him the story. He invited me up to the distribution center in tarrytown NY. I went up and he brought me in the back. Isles and isles of parts (like that last scene in Raiders of the lost ark ). He brought me to the correct BIN and I personnaly picked out the last 8 boxes of true 15x7 trim rings. That was 1981

I haven't seen the right ones since.

Picked up 4 of the 3461043 in 2006 for my 70RR. Wish I had bought more... Very nice repro IMO, no gap.

Thought I would share an update.
I sent some trim rings to Rick Miller (recommended earlier) for restoration.
I sent them in November. He promised them in February.
It is April and he just emailed me back that he doesn't have them yet.

Apparently he sends them 'somewhere' to have them done. So, he is not the restorer, he is a middle-man.

Now, I haven't seen the work, yet, and have a little time yet before I need them. I am hopeful that when they do arrive I will be happy with the work.

Not sure how to feel about having them sent somewhere else. I realize this is how many things get done. Just wish I knew it in advance.

Stay Tuned.
