Hi guys i have a 600 edelbrock performer carb on a engine here, problem is that the passenger side idle mixture screw seems to have no effect on the engine. I can screw it all the way in and get nothing. Can anyone shed some light onto what causes this??

Thanks!

I'm no carb expert but you may have an obstruction in the idle circuit on that side. May try removing the screw and spraying some carb cleaner in the hole and down any of the small air bleed holes at the top of the carb. You may also have the idle screw turned in enough that its running on the main circuit. However if this was the case your drivers side screw wouldn't likely have much effect either Maybe some more experienced carb guys can chime in.
Good luck!

get a vac gauge to set them

and like said dont have it cranked up to be off the idle bleeds

been a lot of crap in carbs latly, may want take it down and blow it out with an air hose

may try pulling the screw out and give it a shot of cleaner and a shot of air to unclog it

you can most times get them apart with no gasket damage but a gasket set is cheap like 12$ or the whole rebuild is 40$

I just did my eddy 600 for the first time with a rebuild, its 8 yrs old out the box...was a lot of grainy rust looking crap all in it and been running like crap also

you will get a better reading of the carb with the vac gauge and see it change with out hearing it,get the vac reading as high as you can back and forth with the idle screws

If the screw was over tightened it could have broken off the tip. That would cause the same issue.

Again, pull it out and see what you've got.
